Using only scissors and clothes pins, Shawn Holiday conjures authentic items from natural materials. The spade of the royal palm frond can be fashioned into bracelets, baskets, table decorations, garden edging, walls, lamps and even paper. Holiday first learned about the properties of this unique material from Dick Workman and David Meo at a Mango Mania event in the late 1990s. Since then, he has sold bracelets, taught playshops, decorated tables, and hosted parties using natural materials that can be found in subtropical backyards.
